Why ONTHEMARK?
Choosing the right coach for your child isn’t just about improving performance; it’s about trusting someone with your athlete’s growth, safety, and well-being. At ONTHEMARK, we specialize in long and triple jump training for high school athletes, providing technical instruction, strength development, and mental support in an environment that prioritizes individual attention and holistic growth.
Under the guidance of Coach Willis, a certified USATF Level 1 coach and assistant jumps coach at Montclair High School, athletes receive training built on:
A biomechanically sound technique to reduce injury risk
Open, clear communication with both the athlete and the parent
Structured training plans that meet each athlete where they are
Proven results, including multiple state and national-level performers
We treat your child’s goals like our own, and we coach with the mindset that development isn’t just physical… It’s mental, emotional, and long-term.
Safety & Injury Prevention
We know one of your biggest concerns is keeping your child healthy. It’s one of ours, too.
Every ONTHEMARK training program is intentionally designed to improve physical performance without sacrificing safety. Here's how we do that:
-
We assess each athlete's movement patterns, flexibility, and stability before loading their body with high-impact or high-speed training.
-
Our technical progressions are designed to reduce the risk of overuse injuries by teaching correct takeoff mechanics, sprint form, and landing control.
-
We implement strength training that targets ankle, knee, and hip stability, helping athletes resist fatigue and prevent breakdown over time.
-
Athletes are taught why recovery, hydration, and sleep matter as much as drills. We emphasize the “invisible training” that protects performance.
FAQ
-
My child has never done long or triple jump. Can they still train with ONTHEMARK?
Absolutely. We coach beginner to elite-level athletes, starting with foundational drills, approach development, and coordination training.
-
Is triple jump safe for my child?
When taught properly and progressed gradually, triple jump can be safe and highly rewarding. Our coaching emphasizes safe takeoff technique, controlled landing mechanics, and strength work to support joint health.
-
Will my child be lifting weights?
Yes, if appropriate for their age and development, but always with proper instruction, body awareness, and technique as a priority. For many younger athletes, bodyweight resistance and coordination-based movements come first.
-
Can this help with college recruiting?
Yes. Several ONTHEMARK athletes have gone on to compete at the collegiate level. We also offer guidance on recruiting timelines, performance benchmarks, and highlight video support
-
Will I get updates on how my child is progressing?
Yes. We prioritize communication and provide regular updates, especially during long-term programs. Parents are welcome to attend sessions or reach out for feedback anytime.
